NYTIA’S JOURNEY…

I have always been active and into fashion and style my entire life. Growing up, Step and African Dance were a natural part of life for me. At 7, I asked my parents for ‘skinny jeans’ for my birthday. In middle school and high school, I was a cheerleader and I ran track and played soccer in HS. It was my Sophomore year that I discovered weightlifting when my track/soccer coaches had me take it as an elective to stay fit during the off- seasons. You know regular things!

From a young age, I knew I wanted to work in fashion but knew I didn’t have the designer gene in me. Insert, North Carolina Central University; one of the only Historically Black Colleges & Universities (at the time) that had a Business of Fashion degree. After a year and a half (and building lifelong relationships) I decided I needed to switch schools if I wanted to graduate from college with a job at a major fashion company. So off I went to the Fashion Institute of Technology. Prior graduating in 2009, I accepted a full time position at Macy’s Inc where I worked for 10 years. Meanwhile, I’ve rediscovered my love for fitness after falling off when I started working full time.

After years of working out consistently, as I got more determined and focused with my workouts and fitness goals, I started to see my body transform. By 2013, I was in the best shape of my life. People would always ask "What do you do to get in and stay in shape?!" I was always open to sharing my fitness tips. So I decided to start offering Fast forward Personal Training and Small Group Classes in 2017. It was a dream come true and we had a great time.

Fast forward to 2020, the pandemic hit, I get laid off and everything had changed. So I figured there’s no time better than now to BET ON MYSELF. I start doing live workouts while we are stuck at home, I start a La Femme Luxe Lifestyle Planner ; a luxe stationary shop with my Bestie and I’m now curating my very own hat collection.

I am a testament that even when life doesn’t go as planned, you should always bet on yourself. Here’s to going after my dreams and living a life on my own terms! I hope you all enjoy this journey along with me.

Keep Growing & Glowing…

xo, Tia
